3 Ways For Cannabis Leaders to Maximize Their Workforce’s Effectiveness

As the cannabis industry matures, companies consolidate with one another, and new players led by teams with more business experience in general enter the market, we are reaching an inflection point where the “first mover” advantage that was the key to success for many of the early pack leaders is becoming obsolete, leaving companies to focus on other ways to be competitive beyond simply being first to market.

As cannabis is a fast-moving industry, those companies that don’t focus on utilizing every resource at their disposal to maintain competitiveness will find they are unable to keep up with those that do. As I’ve written about previously, a company’s workforce has the potential to be its largest resource/asset, provided that a culture of respect, empowerment and ownership is established by the leadership team. Thus, it’s a good idea for cannabis leaders to think about how they can best leverage their teams for maximal value — an exercise that will provide that competitive advantage that is increasingly necessary for long term success.

In this writeup, I’ve outlined three areas for leadership to focus on that I think can make the biggest impact when it comes to maximizing each team member’s value and ability to contribute to the team and organization at large.
